12th Step Referrals
When you get an interested, suffering alcoholic on the line, ask them is alcohol being a problem in their lives. Let them talk, or offer some of your past, then offer to connect them to people in the program. These will be people on your contact list with a 12th step designation. Tell your person that you will try to contact someone, who will call them for discussion of alcohol and the possibility of getting them to a meeting. Do not give out any phone numbers to the sufferer, but get a good contact number for them and any specifics of time to call. Please give yourself time to connect to a referral, as we know how hard it is to get someone right off. If you do not find someone quickly get back to the sufferer and let them know you are still there, by phone, but you will find a referral as soon as possible. Please contact men for men and women for women. Remind the caller the hand of AA is reaching out to them and you will do your best to reach them.
